Payroll Tax Cut Standoff Ends - President Signs Short-term Extension
December 23, 2011 -- Bowing to increased political and public pressure, the House today passed and sent to the President for signature legislation to extend the payroll tax cut, unemployment benefits and a "doc fix" to avoid steep cuts in Medicare payments to doctors.
