ITC Begins New Duty Suspension Process

October 11 -- The International Trade Commission (ITC) launched the next round for submitting Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB) petitions, giving importers the opportunity to request duty suspensions on certain products that they import. Here is the portal for submitting a petition for a new duty suspension or duty reduction or to renew an existing duty suspension.https://mtbps.usitc.gov/external/   The portal will remain open until December 10. The American Manufacturing Competitiveness Act of 2016 permits MTB petitions to be filed by any company who is a likely beneficiary of the duty suspension or reduction or by a legal representative. The requested duty suspensions must be noncontroversial and have an annual revenue impact of $500,000 or less.  Duty suspensions only apply to regular customs duties and not punitive tariffs, such as the China 301 tariffs.  A sample petition can be found here: https://www.usitc.gov/documents/mtbps/sample_petition_summary.pdf.
