House Committee Begins Mark-up of Long-Delayed Highway Bill

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman, John Mica, introduced H.R. 7, "The American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act of 2012" on January 31. The legislation will move quickly through committee and is expected to reach the House floor for a vote by mid-February. The $260 billion 5-year highway transportation bill will be funded in part by expanding oil and gas development -- controversial provisions that will meet resistance from Senate Democrats.
